SUMMARY:Spektral Quartet - Institute for New Music at Bienen
DESCRIPTION:The quartet will be performing my work for string quartet "Supplication". The piece combines the form of a ricercar (a composition that is based on a repeating theme accompanied by other interweaving melodic lines) with material based on transcriptions of water\, as well as the dissonances of 1940’s tonality.    The piece is titled "Supplication" because of the contrast between the more dissonant portions of the music and rare instances of a clearer theme towards which these portions are reaching.
