The album’s second piece consists of three movements inspired by experience of Colorado’s rivers and lakes. The piece is characterized by strong and sincere diatonic harmonies and motivic figures, as well as a more subtly interwoven counterpoint than is present in the previous piece. These aspects of the piece seemed fitting as an attempted metaphor for a substance defined as much by the absorbing intricacy of its sounds and movements as by its strength and power.
