TRACK DETAILS
Written as farewell to the both the friends and trials of high school, the English horn quintet ‘Introspection ‘ aims to use musical contrasts of texture, tempo, and mode, along with subtle harmonic nuance, to capture the mixed, often bittersweet feelings arising in response to high-school graduation. The first section consists of a slow, polyphonic dirge, followed by a plaintive entry of the English horn. The second section is a light, playful parody on the graduation march, after which the piece concludes with the opening dirge, overlaid with a soliloquy for the English horn.
